Saginaw Charter Township, a municipality of approximately 40,000, is seeking a full-time employee to fill the position of Director of Fiscal Services. Saginaw Charter Township is the hub of Saginaw County, and an integral member of the Great Lakes Bay Region. Located in the heart of the Lower Peninsula, Saginaw Township is only a 30-minute drive from Lake Huron.
The Director of Fiscal Services plans, organizes and directs all centralized accounting programs and provides administrative direction for other centralized services such as automated systems. The director also maintains the Clerk’s financial records and plays a prominent role in budget coordination and preparation. This position is under direct supervision of the Township Manager, and manages three (3) employees.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position include: a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; seven years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial management in a municipal setting; three or more years’ experience administering a fiscal department; thorough knowledge or the principles, practices and legal regulations of municipal finance, budgeting, accounting and investing. Saginaw Township’s Fiscal Services Department heavily utilizes BS&A applications. Ability to use, and experience with BS&A fixed assets, payroll, purchase requisition, general ledger, cash receipting, and accounts payable is desired.
