Finance Director, Cheboygan County

Cheboygan County, MI is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Finance Director. The Finance Director is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the financial accounting system used by the County. Assists in maintaining the accounting system in a manner consistent with established and accepted governmental principles and practices. Responsible for recommending and developing budget formats and procedures, developing and monitoring internal financial controls, responsible for the preparation of audit schedules and plans and organizes the audit of all financial accounting records and has oversight of County purchasing policies and procedures. Supervises Accounting Department staff engaged in payroll and account payable processing, making job assignments, providing training, and evaluating performance.

Preferred employment requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business and considerable experience in public accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Finance Officer Certification and/or CPA is preferred. This position’s salary is dependent on experience and offers excellent benefits.
