Finance Director, City of Livonia

The City of Livonia is looking for a seasoned finance professional to become the next Finance Director of this outstanding community. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing quality financial services to the City and its departments. The current Finance Director is retiring after a successful career of over 30 years.

The City of Livonia is a safe, well-planned community of 36 square miles in southeast Michigan. It is the eighth-largest city in the state. Livonia enjoys a strategic location second to none in the region, with easy access to the I-96 and the I-275 expressways. Close-knit neighborhoods and strong community spirit have long been a hallmark of Livonia. The City’s motto proclaims, “Families First,” and Livonia has successfully maintained its family-friendly hometown atmosphere while strongly emphasizing public safety, parks, and public services. Livonia maintains a robust AA Bond Rating, the lowest city tax rate in Wayne County, a General Fund balance of 24 percent, status as one of the highest property value cities in Michigan, and historically strong millage support by the community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a valid Certified Public Accountant certification; and
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field; and
  • ·Have seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal or public accounting setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to present and understandably explain complex financial information.
  • Expertise in principles and practices of governmental budgeting, accounting, internal controls, and financial
  • High-level proficiency in spreadsheet applications to solve complex financial/accounting problems, including the use of formulas.
  • Aptitude to learn and master the operation of financial enterprise.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and ability to use data-driven methods and financial strategies to drive decision-making.
  • A team player who can work collaboratively with other departments, stakeholders, and external partners to achieve organizational objectives and inspire and lead talented Finance Department

Compensation

The City of Livonia will provide a comprehensive benefit package with a salary ranging from $116,708 - $136,510, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
