How We Work

MGFOA is powered by an active network of volunteers, committees, and member leaders. Much of the association’s work is done through committees focused on accounting standards, professional development, technology resources, legislation, mentoring, membership, intergovernmental cooperation, and strategic planning.

Members are encouraged to get involved by serving on a committee, participating in educational programs, contributing to peer discussions, or pursuing leadership opportunities through the Board of Directors.

Our Mission

MGFOA unites governmental finance professionals across Michigan to support effective and professional financial management of public entity resources, promote member development, and collaborate with partner organizations to advance financial and governance best practices.

Why MGFOA Matters

Strong public finance supports strong communities. By equipping finance professionals with education, resources, peer support, and a collective voice, MGFOA helps Michigan’s public entities manage resources responsibly, plan for the future, and earn the trust of the communities they serve.
